Myrna shares her amazing singing gift through Live music to all that care to hear and receive her imparted love! Capturing the hearts of every audience she touches around the globe! Influenced by classic American artists such as Minnie Riperton, Nancy Wilson, Rachelle Ferrell, and Dionne Warwick, Myrna - like with many great singers - has roots in the church. Her first singing experience was at the age of five in her father’s church. She grew up in a family that stressed education. Her father, a minister and educator, and her mother, a librarian/archivist, instilled in her a drive for excellence. A true renaissance woman, Myrna graduated from Atlanta’s Northside High School of Performing Arts, earned a BS at Alabama A&M University, and an MBA from Atlanta University to embark on a successful corporate Marketing career. However, Myrna’s true passion was to sing in an authentic way – expressing love - so she stepped out and up to now be a full-time professional singer! Her passion and professionalism as a Performing Artist were recognized through juried selection by the Georgia Council of the ArtsMyrna The Songbird is now available for booking through the distinguished GaArt Artist Roster! Just back in the USA from amazing performance tours in Germany, Russia, and Belarus. Myrna is engaging! She is captivating! The Songbird loves to get audiences on their feet and feeling the music. Myrna is a singer/ songwriter, bandleader, studio-
session singer, and featured vocalist for Westside Winds 24-piece big band Jazz orchestra. Myrna is quite versatile in her skill sets and literally excites the crowd! With every part of her body engaged in the performance, there is never a dull moment watching her grace the stage – a quintessential entertainer!
At the core, Myrna is a 21st Century Jazz singer! The Songbird does it all: Pop, Soul, Gospel, R&B, Blues/Country and all forms of Jazz: Smooth Jazz, Classical Jazz Standards, Swing, Bebop, Fusion, or Contemporary Jazz. Myrna is a versatile Singer of American Culture! Few performers today match The Songbird in her showmanship. Each word is interpreted in a way that delivers clarity of the message with profound insight and resounds with the soul. Vocal/Performance Coach and Workshop Leader Myrna truly enjoys sharing, teaching, and encouraging others to perfect their gifts. She firmly believes that how you treat your gift, demonstrates to the Giver of the gift how much you appreciate your gift. Myrna has coached numerous individual students ranging in age from 8-29. She has done Gospel workshops, Jazz and Scatting technique workshops, healthy voice clinics, and specialized clinics for singers with disabilities.
